The Centre for Practice Innovation develops and delivers a range of advice and information to individuals with ASD, their families and involved professionals. The team operates ’s telephone advice line, offers guidance and advice on resources for our website and delivers bespoke training to a range of external purchasers. The team is also involved in a range of development partnerships across the organisation where they work collaboratively with staff teams on a range of issues. Additionally, a range of funded projects and internal practice development initiatives are underway.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who would like to develop and use their skills by providing support and advice in autism to a wide range of individuals across a variety of settings.
As an Autism Advisor, you will provide support internally to autism services throughout Scotland. You will be involved in carrying out formal and informal assessments, provide support for issues of concern and facilitate staff learning and development on autism related issues. Advice and guidance will also be given to families, carers, other professionals and autistic people through our telephone and online advice line. Within this role you will also be involved in providing training and consultancy services to customers such as local authorities and other voluntary agencies. You will collaborate with colleagues to deliver a range of external projects and embed internal initiatives such as Values Into Practice.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have a degree level qualification in health, education or social care. Suitable candidates will have previous experience of working with people with ASD and ideally have experience of developing and delivering training preferable in ASD or within a similar field.
Flexibility and adaptability as well as a can-do attitude and the ability to work under pressure will be an important attribute of the candidate. You will also have strong communication and good team working skills to establish good working relationships with families, professionals and staff.
