Overview of Role:
As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support our cost management teams on our Project Controls Consultancy Framework in the nuclear sector in our Bristol office, with occasional travel to our clients Harwell site office.
Your Day-to-Day:
The duties/responsibilities defined below may be supplemented by further duties as defined by the Function Lead for Cost.
To participate / assist in project reviews and defined cost audits.
Use of company tools and systems to produce estimates and manage the costs and contract. Note that training will be provided if there is no prior knowledge of the tools/system.
Work with the project team to ensure cost capture requirements are in place.
Assist in performing all post-contract cost activities e.g:evaluate monthly payment applications, raise payment certificate and SEN’s, assess CE’s and EW’s, assess and recommend acceptance / rejection of schedules, review of pain/gain share, review and assess and make recommendations for Final Account submissions.
Use of company contract management system to support the tasks above and general administration of the contract e.g. CEMAR. Note that training will be provided if there is no prior knowledge of the system.
Assist in validating and interrogating supply chain data to assist in accurate cost forecasting and trending and work with the supply chain to understand variances, track expenditure against progress, drive cost accuracy and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Assist the Commercial Lead in producing monthly contract EAC forecasts with the Cost Engineer.
Support the project team in reviewing contingency and management of risks.
Contribute to the team’s KPIs, including, but not limited to, knowledge sharing, timely auditing, assurance checking.
Experience / Knowledge / Key Skills
Given the stage of your career, the expectation is that you will have basic knowledge and understanding of the NEC Contract and CDM regulations.
Knowledge and basic use of standard method of measurement (CESMM3)
Awareness of CDM regulations.
Problem solving skills
Good communication skills
Computer literate; in particular, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Knowledge of relevant company policies and procedures is desirable.

Qualifications
Recognised degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Membership of a relevant professional body or evidence of commencing Chartership.
