Your new role
Our Commercial Delivery Major Project teams are growing, we’re now hiring Assistant Commercial Managers to support the post contract management of some of the most ambitious, complex and significant infrastructure projects in the country over the next five years and beyond! We’re flexible on how and where you do this role from – we welcome interest on a full time or part hours considered basis, working from a variety of offices. We’re looking for a flexible attitude to travel as you may be required to attend meetings at other and supplier sites as required. As an Assistant Commercial Manager you will be responsible for providing commercial support across a multi-million pound Major Project programme. Working closely with your team and project teams you will provide advice on contract administration, cost capture, commercial reporting and auditing ensuring the needs of are protected and compliance is met. A key aspect of the role is ownership of the Cost Management system PRISM including the assurance of data so a critical eye and numerical mindset is essential. The role would suit an individual with knowledge of commercial processes and procedures with an understanding of the NEC form of contract. What you’ll be leading on
Working on specific projects under leadership of senior/commercial manager providing commercial support to internal clients across a range of activities, aiding decision making on commercial efficiencies, provision of advice on contract administration, cost capture, analysis, performance, related intelligence and opportunities for performance improvement
Identifying complex problems trends and variances from data sets in order to undertake analysis and engage relevant stakeholders to review options and make decisions for moving forward.
Building effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers and develop thorough objectives for successful commercial delivery and sharing best practice in order to achieve a consistent approach for the organisation in line with the core values
Ensuring the collection of robust, consistent and objective data, developing robust data capture processes in order to ensure that the correct information is stored, analysed and shared to support decision making
Providing and facilitating specialist advice from across the organisation on commercial issues including cost intelligence and the benefits in order to act as a centre of excellence for unit costs and the benefits that the organisation can glean from this.
To be successful
You will hold a relevant technical qualification at degree level or similar
You will have knowledge and experience of supplier performance monitoring and reporting
You will have knowledge and experience of interpreting contracts, including NEC forms of contract
You will have good analytical skills
You will have the ability to work within and engage with a team with staff at all levels with differing technical understanding
You will be working towards member level of a professional organisation such as RICS, ICES, CIPS or equivalent.
