Audit Manager - Economic Crime Job Openings in Swindon

As an Audit Manager you’ll undertake audits, identifying controls which mitigate key business risks and testing that they’re adequate and effective. You’ll take responsibility for producing clear, concise scope documents, audit papers and reports, whilst providing guidance and coaching to team members.

Internal Audit (IA) are a 90-strong community with backgrounds in everything from Financial Crime and Compliance to IT and Retail. IA use their expertise and experience to complete internal audits across the whole Society.


What you’ll be doing

Working alongside your colleagues in the Risk and Central Communities audit team you’ll use your specialist Economic Crime knowledge and audit/risk management skills to deliver high quality, impactful audits, in accordance with agreed scope and in line with IA methodologies and assess the governance, risk management and key controls that the Society relies on.

You’ll use your ability to build trust and credibility with your stakeholders as well as asking the right questions to pin point the key issues, while supporting the delivery of our strategy.


About you

We‘re interested in people with a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of Economic Crime management. Specifically, a focus on Anti-Money Laundering practices and regulatory requirements and the challenges which Economic Crime brings to a financial services organisation.

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to:

  • Have experience of auditing Economic Crime Management or directly managing the risks, processes and controls associated with Economic Crime including Anti Money Laundering, Fraud Prevention and Counter Terrorist Financing.
  • Have a demonstrable understanding of the regulatory and legislative requirements relating to the above areas in relation to the financial services sector.
  • Be a strong advocate of financial crime compliance frameworks, effective governance and relevant data controls;
  • Be able to confidently influence stakeholders at all levels and build relationships with Economic Crime professionals;
  • Be qualified in, or be on your way to completing, a relevant professional qualification (g. the ICA International Diploma in Anti Money Laundering or Professional Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Crime Compliance) or the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors or Institute of Risk Management.

It would be useful if you also had:

  • Previous experience of audit or assurance activity, with a knowledge of audit methodologies and working in an agile way
  • Experience of coaching colleagues to build their skills and confidence, providing feedback on their performance and sharing Economic Crime management knowledge
  • Financial Services experience
  • Exceptional organisational skills to deliver a range of audits covering Economic Crime ensuring they’re high quality and in line with our audit methodology.
