Brief Description

This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic safety and sustainability team within Capital Delivery Eastern. The role will be based in either York, Derby or Stratford, London and is a key part of the regional S&SD team in Capital Delivery. The role will report into the Head of S&SD and will work collaboratively with the whole team to enable our vision of delivering industry leading projects safely and sustainably. The role will offer a varied work bank and will suit someone with drive and enthusiasm who can work both independently and in a team. If you are passionate about improving safety and sustainability, then this could be the job for you.

The role will be based in either York, Derby or Stratford

About the role (External)


1. Lead national and regional improvement initiatives.

2. Provide Capital Delivery representation on national and industry programmes and working groups.

3. Support the development and implementation of S&SD strategy across Capital Delivery and its Regions and Major Programmes.

4. Promote effective working by communicating good practice and identifying opportunities for innovation through industry research and benchmarking.

5. Develop investment papers and business cases to support improvement proposals.

6. Facilitate effective communication and engagement with both internal stakeholders and the supply chain.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically
  • Experience of leading change
  • Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
  • A clear understanding of the principles of Health & Safety Management, Environmental Management or Project Management

  • Knowledge of the railway and construction industries
  • A degree or equivalent level qualification

Salary: Starting £ 42,971 increasing to £ 48,342 per annum
