Information Governance Assistant Job Openings in Reading

Salary: £21,748 to £25,481 per annum, Grade 3

Permanent role, 37 hours per week

Location – Service Headquarters, Calcot, Reading

RBFRS provides cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from 18 fire stations all across the County. We employ more than 600 uniformed and support staff who serve a population of approximately 860,000 people.

The Information Governance Assistant (IGA) will work within a small team dedicated to enabling effective information governance and ICT security through executing information management and data handling processes.

The IGA will act as the primary point of contact concerning information requests under the Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and Data Protection Legislation, as well as Incident enquiries.

The successful applicant will carry out day-to-day tasks associated with the receipt, logging, dissemination, progressing, collating and responding to requests falling into the above categories.

In addition, the successful candidate will carry out day-to-day tasks associated with administration of and publication to RBFRS document management repositories, systems and libraries, and produce and assist with the production of relevant Information Governance reports and information, as required.

The key focus of this role is:

To enable RBFRS to meet its information governance obligations in respect of data protection, freedom of information, information sharing, data quality, record keeping, corporate records and information systems, which, as RBFRS is a public body, are subject to legally binding response times.

The successful candidate will be required to work closely with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure Information Governance processes comply with these legislative and business process timelines.

Key role requirements:

  • Self-motivated and highly organised
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, effectively organise own work load and manage competing priorities
  • Good level of computer literacy and experience of working with the Microsoft Office
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels establishing personal credibility based on professed abilities, influencing others and being assertive when required
