Among which is the proposed merge with fellow acute hospital Poole Hospital. It is anticipated that the and Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will merge in 2020 to form East Dorset Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is a condition of employment that all staff being recruited in the period before merger will work across all sites pre and post-merger

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Therapy Practitioner to work within the Therapy Teams across Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

The post holder will join our fantastic Therapy teams who are part of multi-disciplinary teams working with patients who have a range of medical conditions. There are a high proportion of older people on the caseload, so we are looking for people who have a passion and ability to communicate with the older person and those of all ages. These posts are clinical posts, where the post holders will engage in completing assessments and treatment of patients.

The key responsibilities would require you to have confidence completing therapy assessments on an individual basis as well as organising and running groups. You would also be a key player in ensuring the ward promotes an enabling environment where patients are supported to be as independent as possible in daily routines. You will have responsibility to provide support and guidance other therapy assistant staff and as such the post holder needs to be well-organised and confident at working within a team including in a leadership role.

Previous experience of working with older people, in an acute hospital or community setting is essential. The post will include 7 day working and therefore the post holder will be expected to participate in weekend rotas. You will be required to achieve a certain competency level which we will give you support and training to help you achieve. We have a structured in house training programme and a supportive team of clinical staff.

Ideally you should be car driver with full driving license and have access to own car. The role may include assessing patients in their home environment, with support as required from the qualified clinicians.
