First Line Manager Job Opening in Grimsby
To exercise diligence and independent judgement to promote transparent, values-led and professional management of the site.
To act as a professional and trusted advisor to the Manufacturing Manager all production and packing / distribution matters relating to the relevant site.
To utilise organisational and local MI to identify and prioritise local production and packing agendas to achieve organisational financial and production goals; Ensure MI is consistent, honest, open, routinely reviewed.
Regular constructive engagement with, and co-ordination of, the broader teams (other sites, HSE Depts) to facilitate the local delivery of site production goals.
The application of financial rigor to all production activity to ensure value for money for the site.
To act as a role model for safety behaviours on site and be able to deliver quantifiable results in reporting safety issues, health issues and deal with these proactively.
Liaise with the Management on site for any safety reasonable requests.
Responsible for the proactive management of risk assessments and SOPs, where there has been a change to a process or needs to be for health and safety purposes.
Responsible for own health and safety in area in line with company procedures from handbooks, signage, induction, notifications and training documentation.
Reporting any safety, health or environmental incidents without delay to Line Manager.
Responsible for coaching fellow work colleagues and new members of the One Young's team on health and safety in area in line with company procedures.
Responsible for the active health, safety and environmental improvement of the line and the team's area in which you operate within.
Conducts regular risk assessments in conjunction with Staff members, L&D Trainers, Union, and HSE Advisor (where applicable) to improve the area and control the risks.
Attends Root Cause Analysis meetings, investigates accidents and reviews and improves training material from a safety perspective
Responsible for ensuring area complies with high safety standards and takes active participation in health, safety and environmental audits.
Responsible for championing clean as you go practices and good manufacturing practices in the area you are responsible for.
Responsible for coaching fellow work colleagues and new members of the One Young's team on Hygiene practices in area in line with company procedures.
Responsible for ensuring machinery hygiene checks are completed in line with company protocol. Reporting hygiene defects promptly to the Hygiene Department and Line Manager.
Responsible for the active hygiene improvement of the line and the team's area in which you operate within.
Responsible for ensuring area complies with high hygiene standards and takes active participation in hygiene and food safety audits.
Responsible for championing a positive food safety & quality culture in the area you are responsible for.
Responsible for coaching fellow work colleagues and new members of the One Young's team on positive food safety & quality culture in area in line with company procedures.
Responsible for ensuring machinery food safety and quality checks are completed in line with company protocol contributing to a positive food safety culture. Reporting food safety critical defects promptly to the Technical Department and Line Manager.
Ensure relevant quality and food safety paperwork is on line (specifications, sample collections etc.).
Responsible for the active food safety and quality improvement of the line, produce produced and the team's outputs in the area in which you operate within.
Responsible for ensuring area Paperwork is completed in line with quality and food safety procedures.
Complete Contamination reports alongside Technical and engineering departments where applicable
Responsible for ensuring area complies with high food safety and quality standards and takes active participation in taste panels and taking responsibility for the quality of produce produced from are.
Understanding how to assist in the costing of products and submitting these.
Continually improve on cost improvements for the area in which you manage.
Makes themselves aware of the daily production targets and informs Line Manager of any issues in being able to achieve these within the timeframe required.
Lead CI projects for the area.
Ensure area achieves the requires performance in line with safety and quality parameters.
Participate in daily manufacturing meetings, Technical, Engineering and HR improvement meetings.
People Management & Development
To own the Production manpower plan to ensure the delivery of required numbers in line with legislative and customer COP requirements.
Feedback, coach and mentor new starters and promoted individuals.
Feedback to the agency buddies on the performance of agency workers.
Liaise with L&D department and H&S departments for the review, production and implementation of risk assessments and SOPs.
To liaise with HR & L&D Departments to ensure a robust talent, training and development process is embedded for the Production & Packing teams on site.
Communicate to employees and agency workers business developments, team and local site initiatives that benefits them.
Ensure engagement of people on site and to embed a positive food safety and HSE culture.
To work with HR & L&D Depts to ensure the effective on-boarding of new site personnel.
Manage the PDR / WPD process to establish a culture of personal development and personal responsibility to encourage colleagues to achieve their full potential.
To support company recognition strategies to promote personal contribution.
To drive the site to produce best possible outcomes for audits and maintain audit standards year on year and deliver outstanding performance on Production & Packing quality and safety expectations.
To ensure the food safety, legality and quality of finished goods are complied with and consider Production & Packing solutions for these, to continually challenge and improve systems, processes people, structure and machinery.
The provision of advice and guidance on Production & Packing issues to the site leadership team to promote good practice and compliance.

Skills and Experience Required
Experience and skills required
Level 3 Food Hygiene (or equivalent)
Intermediate HACCP (or equivalent)
3+ years of Production & Packing leadership experience; with exposure to FMCG environments, M&S audit standards and being ‘audit ready’.
Experience of working in Chilled and frozen environments working with meals production, coated fish products and white fish processing products.
Knowledge of fish products, Production & Packing products around coated processing.
Evident confidence in presentation, communication and negotiating with professional peer groups.
Efficient in delivering objectives and key measures.
Ability to lead Production & Packing segments of audits and ensure delegated Managers are able to lead also.
Ability to work with peers in a matrix structure to draw in external skills to achieve local goals
Track record of delivery
Ability to manage priorities and projects across a multi-site and multi-function organisation
A personal commitment to role model behaviours and to leadership and management through example
A working understanding of Microsoft Office
