About Our Client

Our client is a growing FMCG manufacturing company based in Wigan.

Job Description

Overall responsibility in identifying and leading continuous improvement and efficiency projects within the Company focussing on products, systems, operations and processes.

Will embed Operational Excellence within the DNA of the company through deployment and application of lean tools and techniques.

Creating, measuring and sustaining site culture change to ensure achievement of long-term business strategies.

  • Analyse current work practices to identify areas for improvement and educate employees in how to improve business and manufacturing processes.
  • Measure operations and tasks to set work time standards.
  • Serve as a facilitator of continuous improvement implementation and employee involvement.
  • Devise and test solutions and roll out new ways of working.
  • Drive functional projects, identifying risks, issues and benefits.
  • Perform workplace audits and streamlining processes.
  • Process mapping, value stream mapping, identifying inefficiencies in productivity.
  • Communicate effectively with various levels within the business to educate in lean methodologies and how recommended changes can cut waste from operating procedures, influencing and motivating both proactively and reactively.
  • Foster the growth of performance excellence behaviours within the business through coaching, mentoring, and training teams and championing performance excellence.
  • Support the business in establishing "best practice".
  • Ensure that process improvement initiatives are aligned to business requirements.
  • Implement standard work, visual factory and error proofing.
  • Support the development of a culture of engagement across the business to provide a highly energised team which is flexible to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Undertake continuous training and development.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems.
  • Provide development and training of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) in line with best practice.
  • Support the implementation of new projects.
  • Completion of audits to ensure adherence to company standard operating procedures.
  • Supporting operational and product change overs.
  • Lead, manage and track multiple cross-functional improvement projects to ensure successful completion.
  • Up-skilling of colleagues to allow them to identify, develop and manage small Kaizen projects.
  • Provision of training around CI tools and techniques.
  • Sharing and training technical knowledge to improve capabilities; coaching and instilling best practice into operator pool.
  • Collaboration with engineering and quality colleagues.
  • Identify opportunities to continually improve manufacturing areas.
The Successful Applicant
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • A recognised qualification or demonstrable experience in implementing Lean / 6 Sigma
  • Experiences of Lean Manufacturing Principles in a Manufacturing or similar environment including Lean, 6 Sigma and Kaizen
  • Experience of factory design, layout, machine operation, facility process flow and continuous improvement
  • Experience of work measurement and standard time setting techniques
  • Professional communication skills are essential
  • Exceptional ability to conceptualize large projects and foresee challenges and needs to be addressed
  • Top-level understanding of all aspects of continuous improvement processes and methodology
  • Previous experience in continuous improvement is essential
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of operating tactically in addition to supporting the focus and drive towards Operational Excellence
